Terrance Kutryk, President and Chief Executive Officer

Terrance Kutryk was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Pipeline on October 1, 2012. Prior to joining Alliance, he held the position of Senior Vice President, Midstream & Refined Products at Husky Oil Operations Limited, and was responsible for a wide-ranging portfolio including global commodity marketing, logistics and trading, storage, refining and upgrading, pipelines, cogeneration, retail and wholesale operations, asphalt marketing, product supply and distribution, and new ventures. Terrance has also held the position of Chairman of the Board for Sultran Ltd. and Pacific Coast Terminals Company Ltd. Terrance is Past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) and currently serves on the Audit Committee. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Petroleum Society of Canada, Canada Heavy Oil Association, CFA Institute and the Calgary Society of Financial Analysts. Terrance holds Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of Calgary, is a graduate of the Petroleum Land Management program at Mount Royal University, and is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds designations from the Investment Dealers Association of Canada.
 

Keith Palmer, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Keith Palmer was appointed as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as of October 24, 2011. Prior to that he was the Vice President and CFO of Alliance Pipeline since April 2010. Mr. Palmer, a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) has been with Alliance since 1997, holding positions of increasing responsibility, including Controller and Senior Manager, Information Services, and Vice President, Finance. Effective February 1, 2015, Keith’s functional responsibilities were expanded to include leadership of Alliance’s Human Resources and Supply Chain departments while maintaining responsibility for all Finance and Accounting areas.

William Christensen, VP Law, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary 

William (Bill) Christensen was appointed VP Law, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary on May 1, 2013. Prior to that he was Senior Corporate Counsel & Privacy Officer for Alliance since 2006, and Law, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary since 2013. Mr. Christensen has over 25 years of legal experience in the pipeline, logistics, and facilities management industries, including several years as a litigator in private practice. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Alberta, and the Calgary Bar Association, and has been involved in numerous other professional and community groups. Mr. Christensen graduated from the University of Alberta with Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Science degrees. He received his Bachelor of Law degree from Dalhousie University in 1986.

Derek Riphagen, Vice President, Operational Compliance and Information Services

Derek Riphagen was appointed Vice President, Operational Compliance and Information Services on February 1, 2015. Prior to this role, Derek held the position of Vice President, Information Services. In 2013, Derek retired as Partner from Ethier Associates, a well-respected business and information technology consulting firm. Derek has over 30 years of I.T. and business experience in a variety of industries, including ten years in the pipeline sector. He has successfully helped transform a number of organizations and is a sought-after advisor and instructor on project execution and governance. Derek is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and has earned the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.

Daniel Sutherland, Vice President, Commercial Operations

Daniel (Dan) Sutherland was appointed Vice President, Commercial Operations of Alliance Pipeline on February 1, 2015. Prior to this role, Dan held the position of Vice President, Business Development at Alliance. Dan has worked in the oil and gas midstream and downstream business for more than 30 years, with experience in: oil & gas marketing, refined products, pipelines, electricity, Liquified Natural Gas and Natural Gas Liquids. Prior to joining Alliance, Dan was the Vice President, Midstream Assets, New Ventures and U.S. Marketing at Husky Energy, where he was responsible for all midstream assets including heavy oil pipeline, co-generation assets, U.S. Product Marketing and gas storage and liquids extraction assets. Dan has also held Board of Director positions with the Independent Power Producers Society of Alberta and the Industrial Power Consumers Association of Alberta. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Dan holds a Masters of Business Administration from Heriott-Watt University specializing in Negotiation and International Trade.

Jim Walsh, Vice President, Pipeline Operations and Engineering

Jim Walsh is the Vice President, Pipeline Operations & Engineering as of February 1, 2015. Mr. Walsh joined Alliance in October 1998 as the Manager of Canadian Operations. In December 2000, he was named the Vice President Canadian Operations, and in 2007, became Vice President, System Optimization and Effectiveness. Mr. Walsh graduated in 1983 from the University Of Western Ontario with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to joining Alliance Pipeline, Jim held positions with Petro-Canada and Westcoast Energy. With 30 plus years of total industry experience to date, Jim has 25 plus years of experience in the natural gas pipeline industry. Mr. Walsh is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
