Potential Capacity Expansion

Alliance Capacity Expansion Project (ACEP)

The Alliance Capacity Expansion Project (ACEP), subject to commercial support and regulatory approval, will increase Alliance’s transportation capacity by adding compression and other facilities along our mainline. Details:

  • The ACEP will add about 400 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscf/d) of new transportation capacity, a 25 percent increase.
  • The planned in-service date is on or about November 1, 2021.

Project Need

Strong customer demand for more transportation service to the US Midwest market is the business driver for this capacity expansion. Current firm contract capacity on the Alliance system is fully subscribed, and short term “discretionary” capacity (transportation service sold when operationally available on an as-needed basis) is at a premium. Market access is a key issue for natural gas producers, and the Alliance pipeline system is a proven, in-place asset that provides a reliable connection to the Chicago market hub.
